I now understand multiple mailboxes, it's quite obvious once I thought about it.

The settings on the Admin page should be user credentials that can access any POP3 mailbox.  I'm using Gmail, using the settings shown a few posts above.

To monitor multiple mailboxes, I was able to create "nicknames" in Gmail - aliases to the original email address.  So the user "support@mydomain.com" can also receive mail at "application1@mydomain.com" and "application2@mydomain.com".  Now, for application1, I can monitor the mail address "application1@mydomain.com" and in application2, I can monitor "application2@mydomain.com".  Works like a charm.

If you wanted to get fancy you could create lots of different mail aliases for individual users or roles on each team, or for item types "bug / task / etc" and BugNET will create different issues based on the email set to.

Hope this helps everyone.  If I get time I'll try to doc something up in the Wiki.

I'm not sure I understand the alias part of this.  I have my app and a test project setup to use bugnetuser@mydomain.com.  That works fine.  Then I setup an alias test@mydomain.com that resolves to bugnetuser@mydomain.com.  Sent an email to test@mydomain.com and never got the bug.

Getting ready to switch this to an exchange mailserver.  Will that make my problems worse?

I have created a page in the documentation. I was having trouble editing the pages and the next day Davin posted about wiki editing begin disabled.

Basically I wanted to form a page out of all the postings about Mail, SMTP or POP issues. This document will hopefully form a working document for the re-design of notifications and mailbox subscriptions.

If you have your mail server set up correctly, then email sent to either address ends up in the "bugnetuser@mydomain.com" mailbox, but the "To:" addresses remain "bugtestuser" and "test".

Assuming this is OK - in your BugNET admin settings, let's say you have set up to log in as bugtestuser@mydomain.com.

Then, project 1 mailbox is set to pick up mail from bugtestuser@mydomain.com.

You can now set up project 2 mailbox to pick up mail from test@mydomain.com.
