Hardware, Operating System and Custom Fields
Hi,

I would like to get a bit of community feedback on the hardware and operating system fields.

Are these fields currently being used by your projects?

A proposed redesign is to replace these two fields with a custom fields option, removing the OS and Hardware fields but allowing an administrator to create a custom field from a template.

This allows them to be more project specific with custom values instead of shared by all projects.

Please post your comments.

I'm not using these fields either, but custom fields would really be great, for sure!!!

Keep up the good work!

Re: Hardware, Operating System and Custom Fields
One of the problems with the custom fields was that you could not report against them.
I feel that if the field is important enough to have on your issue then it is important enough that you would want to report/filter on it.

Re: Hardware, Operating System and Custom Fields

Your point is well taken.

I think this functionality will come into play as saved custom queries are implimented.  There is a bit of work to be done around the issue list page but this is not impossible to achieve.  Whether or not it is pursued now or later is the question.
