Hi Davin,

I get this error when I have (finally) got the new DB.

The database 'd:\<Some big fat path>\SRC\BUGNET_WAP\APP_DATA\BUGNET.MDF' cannot be opened because it is version 655. This server supports version 612 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported.
Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
Login failed for user 'MACHINENAME\ASPNET'.

Did you upgrade to SQL 2008?

Our production environment does not have SQL 2008 but we will not be using the data file in APP_DATA, we will properly host the database, so this is prob not a problem.

Is this a train smash for other users ?

I will dust off my trusty ISO of the Visual Studio 2008 Express editions downloaded from M$ and install SQL 2008 Express.

Hi Stewart,

Yes, I did recently upgrade my development environment to sql 2008 express.  I forgot that this may cause issues with users with lesser versions.   For installation, sql 2005 and later. Support for sql 2000 for version 0.8 is still up in the air but in order to be progressive it may not be possible.
