Can't get passed login screen with 0.7 Beta 1
I'm running ButNET in a virtual directory under my wwwroot which is running DNN (shared web hosting). I added <httpModules><clear/></httpModules> and other necessary things in the web.config to get BugNET to work (at least the install). The install said it completed successfully, but when I go to login it stays at the login screen. If I try a different password it gives me the expected error. However, with a correct username and login, it does nothing.

I'm new to BugNET and relatively new to ASP.NET (I'm a Forms programmer), so I typically assume user error in cases like this, but I'm pretty stuck and REALLY want to see this working. Has anyone else run into this problem or have any suggestions?

I saw this blog awhile ago about running webservices under DNN, which says to copy the DNN dlls to your appplications bin direction, BugNET in this case.

I did that and all is running fine. I was running into errors before doing so. I've also done this process for web services and other web apps, so I'm pretty sure that's ok.

I see the BugNET pages ok and the install ran ok, but I just can't get passed the login screen. Is it possible that the DNN authentication is overlapping with BugNET and causing problems? I'm in the process of installing to a different (clean) domain to see if it works there and/or really is just a compatibility problem with DNN.

Just curious, how is this site setup? I can see that this is running DNN and BugNET. Are they completely separate virtual directories or are they nested?

It is certainly possibly that overlapping of the authentication could be happening but I am not sure why.

I have DNN and BugNET set up to use two different virtual directories.

From BugNET's standpoint there isn't really anything abnormal about the implementation of security, just the standard forms authentication.

Re: Can't get passed login screen with 0.7 Beta 1
After installing to a new domain, virtual directory, and database, it all worked. So my guess is something is going on when BugNET is in a virtual directory beneath a DNN virtual directory.

The reason I installed DNN directly into wwwroot was so that my website's default page would be that of DNN, and I didn't really want to forward to a page in another virtual directory, at least I didn't want it showing up in the URL. So please forgive me for asking this, as I'm sure it's probably not the best forum but I'm guessing you have a quick answer... How does http://www.bugnetproject.com have DNN in a separate virtual directory yet your default page shows up at the root URL of http://www.bugnetproject.com?

Having DNN in my wwwroot just makes me have to jump through extra hoops for everything, so any help is appreciated.
