Authentication Settings

Can BugNet authenticate against my Active Directory store?

I see in the Host Settings that Authentication Settings can be WindowsSAM, ActiveDirectory, or None. How does this work?

I tried setting different authentication settings but didn't see any visible change.

Thanks!

Re: Authentication Settings
Try these steps:

  1. Comment the forms authentication and uncomment the windows authentication in the web.config
  2. Turn off anonymous authentication for the web site in IIS
  3. Set the ActiveDirectory for the authentication in the host settings and enter a username and password that has read access to the directory.

BugNET will not utilize active directory groups but fetch user data.  Once the user is entered into the BugNET application you will also still have to assign them roles etc.

Re: Authentication Settings

Davin,

Thank you for the reply. It's working great. I have a small follow up question.

How can I login as an application Administrator after I've changed the authentication to AD?

I've figured out how to do it by modifying the user record in SQL, but not through the interface.

Thank you!

Re: Authentication Settings
There is no way to do this from the UI at the moment.  The way you have done it is usually the way I do it.

In 0.7 there is a "Super Users" role so that you may add anyone to this role and they will be able to access all settings etc.
