Connect to another database - cannot login

Hi all,

We are migrating from an commercial issue tracking tool to BugNET.
We are facing the following problems.
We have installed BugNET 0.7.820.0 on our production server (installed the application), everythings works fine.
Now we want to make some custom changes to the application so we have installed BugNET 0.7.854.0 locally on our development machine (installed the application + database through /Install/Installer.aspx ), everything works fine. Next we have copied the sources to the same development machine and are trying to connect to the just installed database.
When i build + run the application from visual studio 2005 i can't login, we get the error:
Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.
When i try to connect from the working installed version on our development machine to our production database, i can't connect either (same error Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.). When i change the connectstring back to the locally installed database, eveything works fine again.

So the problem/question is, how do i connect to a database other than the installed database?
We have installed version 0.7.820.0 locally, no difference.
Does it has something to do with the "applicationid" in the "aspnet_......" tables?

The machine key attribute in the web.config is tied directly to an installation of the application and used to hash passwords. You will need to syncronize the machine key attributes from the required web.config before you can connect to another database.

Hello,

I think I am having the same problem, but don't understand the solution (syncronize ) proposed in the thread. I realize it is due to my lack of experience in .Net application.

I see where the machine key is in web.config. Does this value need to be changed? Possibly to the value in the previously working installation?

Do values in aspnet.applications, membership, users..etc. need to be changed also?
