can I use an existing DB with tables for other application? Just need to make sure the install script won't drop current tables.

You want to be careful trying this.  Version 0.7 is not multi application friendly for the database.  None of the tables are prefixed so if you have an existing application with membership tables already in the application or a table called "Roles" etc there may be conflicts.    Whatever you do, be sure to back up your database before trying anything incase it fails.
