Is anyone using BugNET in a large production environment?
Hi, I am just trying out BugNET and it seems really good, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of people using it.  One thing that is holding me back from fully embracing it is the lack of documentation and reviews/feedback from other users.

Is anyone out there using this in a large production environment?  Ie. managing 1000+ bugs for many developers working on a commercial product?

Re: Is anyone using BugNET in a large production environment?
Hi paul,

This is a disscussion I was hoping to post myself at some point and possibly create a "showcase" page on the site.

You are correct about the lack of documentation and one of the big reasons the site was started.  When it comes down to it the toss up is documentation or features as there are only a few contributors and myself on the project.  Be sure that documentation will improve considerably in the future though as the project is more active lately than ever.

I  look foward to user feedback in answer to your question.

Cheers

I definitely understand the tradeoff between documentation and new features.  Especially on an open source project.  Hopefully this forum can help fill the void a bit.  I think this project could be really successful, and it is certainly a lot more user friendly than products like Bugzilla.

Re: Is anyone using BugNET in a large production environment?
My group is not that large but when I checked the Bug Id just few minutes ago, it was 937 (including close issues) so almost close to 1000 if you will. There're total 5 different projects we are using currently.

Our BugNet implementation is used by 3 developers, a few testers (> 10), a few QA guys (> 10) or so...

People love it as we have turned on NTLM so they don't have to log in using Username/password.

Re: Is anyone using BugNET in a large production environment?
My company uses BugNet and has since 0.65. We are currently on the 0.67 release. We converted an old Access DB and so have a large number of projects and our bug issues are about 8000 bugs. This is not a total bug count as we skipped a few thousand here and there. We are not a large company but BugNet meets our needs. Being .Net and Sql server is far easier to manage than say BugZilla or alternatives that I looked at. Plus of course, being a .Net developer I can look at and fix problems.
Having a large number of projects does give rise to a number of enhancement requests as to how to make the management of these projects easier.
I look forward to the 0.7 version when it is released as it does seem to promise some tantalising new features. And of course being exciting as its based on the .Net 2. As per usual the upgrade scripts are what I am waiting for to be able to properly test the new version works on our system.
Congratulations to Davin and his team on bringing the project this far and producing a very useful product.
