I'm going to be doing an upgrade tomorrow.

Do I need to comment out localization module?

If yes, where do I do this?

The localization module does not interfere with the upgrade process, only when you start the website after upgrading and you notice no css , images are loaded, then you need to comment out the localizationmodule in the web.config (there were 2 places in my web.config).
If you have windows authentication on the site, you need to disable it and allow anonymous access before you run the install.aspx.
When upgrade is finished you can reenable windows authentication.

There is a particular situation where this happens. If you are using windows authentication and there is no user profile for the user you are accessing the application with. Or forms authentication and the profile is not there (which should not happen).

Thanks for the info.

Upgrade Done!

I was set to forms authentication using the new Web.Config.

The upgrade went fine except I had to comment out the 2 localizationmodule lines in the Web.Config to get the pictures and layout to display correct.
