New Features In Progress (Wiki, Forums) -- From an outsider

Hello All,

I'm a new person on BugNET.  I came across BugNET 2 weeks ago and was extremely interested.  I was looking for open source alternatives to FogBugz.

From the available open source ASP.net solutions, I decided this was the best option.

I've started working on some features which I think would be great to integrate into the base code.

  1. Wiki's - Everythings got them and they're great.  These are linked to an individual ProjectID.  I'm about 90% done integrating.
    1. Left to do:
      1. Convert SQL Strings embedded in code to Stored Procedures.
      2. Clean up some odd code (refactor)
      3. Authentication integration with BugNET
      4. Revert to History Wikipage
      5. Show History Page
      6. Fix SQL Server 2000 issues - mainly installation
    2. What I did:
      1. Added support for ProjectID's.
      2. Remove features not need: Authentication, Add code to BugNET core to add menu item
    3. I used this guy's wiki as a starting place: http://www.andrewfaust.com/wiki/
      1. Problems: The license isn't in sync with BugNET.  BugNET is GPL, DotNetWiki is Apache 2.0.  I'll be co
  2. Discussions/Forums - Will be linked based on ProjectID
    1. Threaded model, similar to FogBugz

Please let me know if there is interest in these features.  I will be releasing them under GPL (or whatever license is insync with BugNET).

Also, admin of this project.  Please let me know if you would like to integrate this into the core code.

Thanks!

Mike

This sounds like it would be a great addition to the application. Let me know when you think its read to integrate into BugNET and we can go from there.

Any update on this?  I think this would be a great addition to the application.

This sounds awesome. I wanted to install a seperate WIKI bug having it integrated into BugNet will save major work in setting up user permissions.

Nice Idea!!!

Re: New Features In Progress (Wiki, Forums) -- From an outsider

Update:

Development on my end has been stalled for the last month.  My company is in the middle of budget season and my department is being absorbed by another department. I hope to get back on track here in the next couple weeks.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Unless you guys can offer some encouragement, in which case I can work on it off the clock.  I was hoping for more reception to this idea.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Mike
