Anybody used Web Installer yet?
Modified By rachitpatel on 5/5/2006 4:28:59 AM)
I would like the feedback on the Web Installer that BugNET project just released (http://www.bugnetproject.com/Blogs/tabid/53/EntryID/7/Default.aspx).

How easy was it for you? What improvement would you like to see in future? i.e what else this installer should do?

Will appreciate your feedback!

Re: Anybody used Web Installer yet?
I did!

It's very nice, clean and simple :)

The only thing I'd complain about is that it is asked a strong password, without specifying the required criteria (which seem to be uppercase, lowercase letters and digits)

I didn't try upgrading the existing Database, maybe later!

There is a little mistake in the SQL script: a user 'Admin' with password 'password' is created, which is awful for the security ;)

Thank you!

Re: Anybody used Web Installer yet?
I am a new user and have tried to install using the web installer. I have created a new database on my SQLServer 2005 and a new login for this database.  Using the wizard I enter the server, preferered login authentication mode (SQL Server) and login credentials. Clicking next allows me to see the list of databases from the server and I select the newly created (called bugtracker). Clicking next again gives me the following error message:
Number:18456:
Message:Login failed for user 'bugtracker'.

I have tried with a different set of login credentials as well as I have verified that the "bugtracker" login has access to this database.

Best Regards

I was able to fix this my self after a little messing about. I am not completely sure what did the trick, but I realized that I was running .NET 2.0 on the site and then set it to 1.1. That let me to the Security issue when accessing registry, so I disabled the exception management. Then it all worked like a charm... Now I am ready to start testing Bugnet...
