Admin role and Windows authentication
So I've run into a couple of issues when setting up BugNet to use Windows authentication.

First time I set things up using the default forms authentication, created a couple of users and played around. Then I switched to the Windows auth, which worked fine except that I was no longer logged in as the admin, couldn't see a way to login as admin, nor could see how to hack the database to tell it that my windows identity was the one to use as the admin.

The second time I set it up, I wiped the database and made sure to have the Windows authentication setup before running the install procedures. No problems installing, and it recognized me right away, but again... I could not see a way to admin the application.

* did I do something wrong?
* am I missing a configuration setting or is there documentation somewhere?
* how can I assign a windows identity a role of admin?

This is what I do.
  1. Install BugNET
  2. Log in as the admin account
  3. Add a new user with the domain\username that you wish to be the admin and add them to the super users role.
  4. Change the authentication in the web.config and IIS to windows authentication
  5. Visit the application with the logged on domain user that you created earlier and you should have admin access now.

Re: Admin role and Windows authentication
Great, that worked. Once I had my Windows account setup with the SuperUser role I was able to turnoff the windows forms authentication and still administer my site.

Re: Admin role and Windows authentication

First of all, I want to say this looks like a great application.

I've tried running through the steps listed in this thread, but am running into one problem.  After I create a new user, I'm unable to assign that user to the "super users" role as no roles appear in the available roles.  I tried going to the Administration tab and chose the "Manager Roles" icon next to the new userid but no roles show up in the "Security role" drop down list box.  This is version 0.7.832 running on Windows 2003 Server 64bit with SQL Express 2005.

Did I miss something during the install, or do I need to use the source install?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Sorry, this is a known issue that has been fixed in the source and will be in the next release due out very soon.
