I started a new blog just for development discussion.  One of my goals with the new site is to communicate more efficiently with users and project members about what is happening with the project.

In the past I haven’t talked much about a roadmap so let me start by saying that the 0.66 release is near completion, over the last few betas there has been several fixes and it is looking very stable at the moment.  I would like to release 0.66 on Sunday April 2nd.

For the most part users have seen the enhancements to this version and screenshots are now up for users that have not upgraded.

The next version 0.67 or BugNET 2005 will be moving the project to ASP.NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005.  With this move comes some redesign challenges but also brings some great benefits.

A short list of things that I would like to focus on in the next version are:

  • Membership Roles using the new membership provider

  • Finish outstanding feature requests.

  • Globalization / Localization

  • User friendly installation / upgrades with windows installer.

  • Themes and Skins

More to come.

Re: Roadmap

Hi.

I'd downloaded the version of Bugnet : BugNet-0.66RC.zip and I can't make it to function on ASP.NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 environment.
Every time the project is converted or imported errors are reported by the VS IDE.

Could you send me any suggestion or an apropiated version for evaluation, as soon as posible, please.

Excuseme for my english.

Thank you in advanced.

With best regards,

Re: Roadmap

The currently releases of BugNET are targeted for the 1.1 framework and VS 2003. I am currently in the progress of upgrading the project to VS 2005 and .net 2.0 but its finish is still a ways off.

To keep BugNET running stable at the current time I reccomend it be run with asp.net 1.1.
